Next Stop: Ma’ale School of Television and Film

October 8, 2020 by Yocheved Feinerman Leave a Comment

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to make movies. No – I need to make #movies. One year before my 40th Birthday, I set out on the road.

Consumed Viki King. Started my screenplay. Created a story world, developed characters, built story structure, wrote, edited, rewrote. Collaborated with script consultants.

On the road, It was clear – I was in love. At the fork in the road, I chose left – the Golden World.

3 months before I officially turn into a grown-up (Auntie Em) – I’m following my bliss. Skipping down the yellow brick road – with my little dog, Toto, I mean Rocky.

GO WITH YO

Destination: מעלה – בית הספר לקולנוע The Maaleh School of Film and #Television in Jerusalem for the 4-year #Filmmaking Track. With professional training, exposure to great teachers, and collaboration with a network of talented students, my dream is turning into a reality.

This grown-up is ready! Whatever it takes – learn Hebrew?! I’m in. Prepared to create stories. Make movies. Contribute to Israeli and global cinema.

This High Energy Mom, is following the yellow brick road all the way to the Emerald City! Who wants to dress me for the #Oscars?

P.S. This graduate student is looking for a part-time job. Or a grant. Or a scholarship. Send me a lead – I’ll name one of the characters in the movie after you!

The Unasked Questions: Goodbye Instead of Hello

August 25, 2019 by Yocheved Feinerman Leave a Comment

Welcome home! How was it! Did you bring enough food? Enough water? Were your new hiking boots the right size? Was it cold? Hot?

These were the questions, we asked our daughters, this morning, after hugging them tight, and welcoming them home from their trip.

Tragically, instead of asking these questions, hugging their daughter tight and welcoming her home from her trip, the Shnerb family, is asking a different set of questions.

Tears of joy. Wailing of heartbreak.

Rina, of blessed memory, was murdered this morning, while on a hike, with her father and brother.

Rina Shnerb, 17. Of Blessed Memory

There will be no welcome. Instead, her family is forced to say goodbye.

Another funeral.
Another burial.
Another empty seat at a Shabbat table.

Another hole in our hearts.

Davening (Praying) for a Refuah Shelaimah (speedy recovery) for Dvorot and Dvir Chaim, in serious condition. (Dvir Chaim ben Shira Esther)

Davening for our Israel Defense Forces, our sons, and daughters courageously defending our borders and hunting down the terrorists.

May all of our children return home safely.

Shabbat Shalom.
